Start Date: 02/13/2018 7:00pm

End Date: 02/13/2018 8:30pm

We invite you to a free evening discussion with Ali Noorani, the Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum. In a moment when support for legislative action to address immigration is gaining momentum and urgency, Ali Noorani will discuss his book—There Goes the Neighborhood, a counter-intuitive exploration of how communities overcome prejudice and meet the challenge of immigration. He explores how we all benefit when we value immigrants and immigration. This discussion will focus on the role of culture and values in America’s immigration debate, and how diverse communities work to make America a welcome place for long-established citizens and new arrivals alike. This event is co-hosted by ACLU of Oregon, CAPACES Leadership Institute, Catholic Charities of Oregon, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, Latino Network, Metropolitan Group, Neil Kelly Company, New Seasons Market, Oregon Association of Nurseries, PCUN, St. Mary's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, and Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church of Portland.
