Paid Summer Internships in U.S. Senate

U.S. Senate

Washington, DC

Start Date: 03/06/2018

End Date: 03/30/2018

Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden are pleased to share information about paid internship opportunities on Capitol Hill for the 2018 Summer Term, including in their offices.
As the first in his family to go to college and having interned for former Senator Mark Hatfield, Senator Merkley knows firsthand the lifelong impact a Senate internship can have. Named after Oregon civil rights leaders, the Otto and Verdell Rutherford Congressional Internship, is designed for students who otherwise would not be able to afford the opportunity to intern in our nation’s capital.
Senator Wyden’s DC office provides a paid internship opportunity geared toward individuals who might otherwise not be able to afford the opportunity to experience life on Capitol Hill. Understanding that the current intern system can often be biased toward advantaged young people, Senator Wyden is working to counter this systemic issue.
In addition, certain organizations offer paid Capitol Hill internship placement as part of their program to college students and recent graduates.
