Best-selling author Mohsin Hamid visits Portland to celebrate his new book Exit West, a powerful novel that explores the real effects of the global refugee crisis with a twist of magic realism. A love story set in an unnamed country in the middle of civil war, Exit West follows migrants Saeed and Nadia as they escape through a series of mysterious doors. Through fairy-tale like storytelling, Hamid explores the themes of migration, conflict, and displacement, showing us that we are all migrants through time. This event is part of Multnomah County Library’s Everybody Reads program, now underway! Pick up a copy of Exit West at your local library and join discussion groups and cultural events leading up to our event with Mohsin Hamid on April 5.
