Guest Service staff enjoy benefits like free admission to the zoo for you and your family as well as admission and parking at Metro parks like Blue Lake and Oxbow park. The zoo also participates in the Reciprocal Employee Attraction Pass, offering admission to 15 area attractions as well!

Restaurant workers with prior cashier/money handling work experience hired under this recruitment may also be assigned to cash handling duties, upon completion of a zoo-administered cashier training, on an as-needed basis. Any potential work as a cashier will be paid at the $11.72 hourly rate.

These positions require a "can-do" attitude and exceptional customer service skills.

Schedules are based on weather and anticipated zoo attendance, but we endeavor to find shifts around your school and work schedule. Hours ramp up during spring break, summer and Zoolights (Late November through December).

Concession Workers perform a variety of tasks to support concession and restaurant operations, including basic food prep, food service and delivery, opening and closing duties, bussing, kitchen cleaning, dishwashing, cashiering and providing customer service. Concession Workers may work in various positions such as grill cooks, prep cooks (basic), baristas, bussers, runners, dishwashers and cashiers in locations as diverse as restaurants, food carts, coffee shops and concession stands.

This is a temporary position. Employees working in temporary status positions may work a maximum of 1040 hours during a 12 month period.

Some experience or the interest to learn to prepare and/or serve quick food specialty items. Sufficient education to demonstrate the ability to read and follow instructions and to perform routine math calculations with accuracy. Any satisfactory combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above. Ability to anticipate guest needs and provide excellent customer service. We are a seven day a week operation. Schedules may be flexible, so staff must be able to work multiple shifts including, days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Must have ability to obtain a Multnomah County food handler's permit at the time of employment.
• Must be at least 16 years of age to cook with an open flame grill, manual fryer, broiler or surface oil more than 100 degrees; or use pizza, bakery or convection ovens
• Must be at least 18 years of age to perform cashiering duties, and to operate, repair or clean power-driven food slicers, grinders and choppers; bakery machines; and commercial mixers

• Experience preparing and/or serving quick food specialty items
• Customer service experience
• Available a minimum of three days a week
• Cashiering experience
