The Engineering and Construction Services (ECS) and the Operations (OPS) Divisions are currently recruiting for Senior Engineers. These positions are responsible for delivering maintenance and/or capital projects related to transportation infrastructure and assets. They also supervise a group of technical staff who are tasked with developing and managing contracts including paving, culvert replacements, bridge repairs, maintenance work, bridge replacements, road construction and reconstruction along with associated utilities, and other capital transportation infrastructure work.
The ideal incumbents will possess a balanced combination of supervisory experience, transportation design, construction experience, and project delivery experience. Candidates should be familiar with paving materials; the design, construction and/or maintenance of bridges; performing drainage analysis and design; slope stability and retaining walls. In addition, candidates should be effective communicators on both technical and non-technical topics and have experience communicating with the public. Ideally, candidates will have experience working for or with a public agency.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering management, surveying, or closely related field; AND
Six (6) years of transportation-related experience applying civil engineering theory, principles, and methods with an emphasis on maintenance, plan preparation and review, road and bridge construction, and/or design. One (1) year of this experience must have included team coordination or leadership.
Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities and Specialty Requirements
Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
Registration as a professional civil engineer with license to practice in the state of Oregon within six (6) months of appointment.
