Rural Domestic Violence Advocate

Full-time Position (40 Hours a Week) Non-exempt

Reports to: Manager of Youth & Family Services

Outstation Location: Family Justice Center - Oregon City


The Rural Clackamas County Domestic Violence Advocate will provide crisis intervention, navigation services, safety planning, resources, information and referrals and assistance in obtaining restraining order and stalking orders, and help navigate the legal system for DV/SA walk-in Latina/o survivors that come to A Safe Place Family Justice Center who live in Rural Clackamas County.


Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, information and referrals and related crisis support services to Latina/o survivors of domestic violence / sexual assault in Rural Clackamas County.
Advocate for Latina/o survivors with outside agencies and government systems.
Participate in community meetings with other social service organizations to promote the agency as an identifiable resource for Latina/o survivors of domestic violence / sexual assault.
Participate actively in various team projects including team meetings, project coordination and implementation of pertinent activities such as 40 Hr. DV/SA workshops.
Support the organization and maintenance of updated resource materials for survivors of domestic violence / sexual assault.
Attend and participate in community meetings and events as required including collaborative rural partnership meetings.
Provide a DV support group for survivors in Rural Clackamas County at various locations.

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Rural Clackamas County, community groups, social service agencies, and other partners.

Maintain records of service provision and provide statistics necessary to support program goals.
Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-culturally competent.
Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
40 hr. Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault training.
Minimum 2 year experience providing case management, information and referrals, intervention services, crisis situations / crisis response and advocacy in Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault.
Knowledge of criminal system preferred.
Experience and knowledge working with a broad range of issues affecting Latinos/communities of color in the community especially issues related to surviving domestic/sexual violence.
Experience with community networking.
Intermediate proficiency in all programs of Microsoft Office; data entry and report tracking required.
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.
Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.

Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast paced work environment.
Required to work evenings and weekends.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.

Must have driver's license and ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency (100/300/100). Driving in Rural Clackamas County required.
Satisfactory results from civil, criminal and motor vehicle background check required

COMPENSATION: Starting pay rate is $16.00/hr. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
