Domestic Violence Program Assistant – Part Time
Pay Range: $20.35-$26.77 per hour.
Benefits include sick leave, and TriMet Pass and SHARC membership, depending on cumulative hours worked; vacation and holiday pay not included; medical and dental insurance not provided.
The Police Department is currently recruiting for a part-time Domestic Violence Program Assistant (limited duration) position that is grant funded through December 31, 2019. If you have a strong interest in providing service to victims of domestic violence and sexual violence crimes, then this is the job for you! The ideal candidate will have completed the Oregon State Victim’s Assistance Academy (or equivalent) and have some experience providing administrative support within an office environment.
General Statement of Duties
The principal function of an employee in this class performs a variety of specialty police support duties including crisis intervention and victim advocacy services. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with department and City personnel and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in a police department environment. This is a grant-funded position that will expire no later than 12/31/2019.
Acceptable Experience and Training
High School Diploma or GED, office experience, completion of the Oregon State Victim’s Assistance Academy (or comparable 40-hour victim assistance curriculum), experience working with law enforcement agencies, and a strong interest in providing service to victims of domestic violence and sexual violence crimes; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record;
• Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation;
• Ability to attend work on a regular, predictable basis as scheduled.
