If you love providing customer service in a park office setting, you might be the perfect candidate for our Blue Lake Park office assistant position. This position is a temporary, part-time position. The training schedule is a flexible 12 hours per week Monday through Friday for the months of March and April. The regular schedule starts May 5 with set working days of Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 6 hours per day and will not extend past Oct. 1. We anticipate the working hours Saturday through Tuesday will be approximately 10 to 4:30 p.m.
This position will be the main point of contact for hundreds of thousands of people who come to Blue Lake Park every summer. The Parks and Nature department manages 17,000 acres of voter-protected land across greater Portland, with a focus on protecting clean water, restoring fish and wildlife habitat, and connecting people with nature close to home.
To do this job, you should enjoy communicating with people, providing excellent customer service and creating a great first impression. You would play an important role in our commitment to offering safe, friendly destinations where all visitors feel welcome. We serve a variety of minority communities at Blue Lake Park and while not a requirement, the ability to speak additional languages is preferred.
To keep things running at Blue Lake Park, organization and computer skills are important, too. You would report directly to the administrative supervisor for Metro's Parks and Nature department and work closely with the Park Operations managers, guest relations coordinator and office assistant. Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D and one year of general office and specialized customer service and problem solving experience; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the job.
This facility is not accessible by public transportation. You will be responsible for providing your own transportation.
