Is water your passion? This senior-level engineer position will give you a key role in our most high profile projects.
If you’re a licensed Professional Engineer with eight or more years of experience, including stormwater and hydraulics, then this position is a good fit for you. Join our team in Lake Oswego or Medford to put yourself at the center of a group of passionate and skilled colleagues.
As licensed Professional Engineer with at least eight years of experience, you’ll independently perform complex tasks related to drainage system design, stormwater treatment facility design, and quantity calculations for highly complex transportation projects. You will stand out with your abilities to write technical specifications, reports, and other correspondence with no supervision. You may also serve as the lead engineer on small-to-midsized projects.
You must have expert proficiency with open channel hydraulic modeling and design using HEC-RAS software and mastery of roadway design software such as Civil 3D, InRoads, and/or GeoPak. Your expertise with drainage, stormwater, and hydraulics fundamentals and advanced proficiency with computer aided drafting will be supported by your understanding of the ODOT Hydraulics Manual and a variety of design codes related to the industry, as well as the ability to quickly and accurately complete engineering calculations. Your technical abilities need to be rounded out by strong communication, time management, and organization skills as well as advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Teamwork and Assignments
We will push you to hone not only your engineering skills, but also your ability to perform as part of a dynamic team that works with several clients on numerous projects. Working alongside project managers and other senior staff, you will interact with clients, contractors, suppliers and teaming partners in a professional manner to develop project solutions.
When you get to work each day, you’ll work as lead engineer on medium design projects, and within a team of engineers on projects of large to very large size. You’ll successfully manage multiple assignments simultaneously, leveraging your advanced proficiency with HEC-RAS software. You’ll also play a key role in coordinating project resourcing, negotiating profitable contracts, and generating leads that result in new contract opportunities. You’ll actively seek feedback from project managers and other senior staff, applying it to overcome obstacles. In turn, you will mentor and oversee the work of less experienced design team members.
Advancing Your Career
At OBEC, mentoring is a two-way street. You can rely on senior team members to be proactive mentors in helping you with your career goals and advising you on the work you do – giving you achievable assignments that push you to excel. Senior team members will rely on you to do impeccable, timely, and detailed work and to help think of ways to do things differently. Your flexibility to take on a range of assignments will mean that you’ll be comfortable with not only design and CAD software but also the range of critical project administration duties that includes attending meetings, writing correspondence, and compiling reports.
It takes a team to move a project from a concept to a final set of construction plans. In this role, you’ll take on increasingly complex parts of that process as you build the skills and experience you need to advance your career.
