Starting Salary Range: Minimum $80,430 to range mid-point of $98,528. Placement generally will not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience and internal equity. (Full Range is $80,430 to $116,623)

PCC is looking for a Managing Architect in the Bond Program who will lead project planning for capital improvement projects. Under the supervision of the Director of the Bond Program, this position will lead project managers and multi-disciplinary teams in the development and delivery of responsive and innovative design and construction projects. Work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with skilled staff to coordinate design and construction processes; develop and maintain design criteria; and ensure project documentation is consistent with college needs among other responsibilities. Additionally the Managing Architect will promote the creation of physical space that resonates with PCC's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and manage the overall vision for the college's built environment.

Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead physical design planning and processes consistent with program and major project scopes; facilitate design response to characteristics of place and functional needs; develop and maintain college standards and design criteria; ensure appropriate building systems technology consistent with college standards and operation/maintenance needs; ensure compliance with planning ordinances, building codes and jurisdictional requirements; ensure compliance with accessibility standards; develop and monitor contracts for professional architectural/engineering and construction services.
2. Supervise and/or provide support to project managers, technical/support staff and/or classified staff. Hire, evaluate, train, discipline, and recommend dismissal of staff as necessary.
3. Manage overall architectural effort against work scope and authorized funding limitations, including review and processing of billings.
4. Establish a capital projects review schedule for the Bond Director. Content for review includes such project milestones as: planning, design, construction, and occupancy.
5. Ensure design professionals adhere to established processes throughout the execution of their services; including adherence to schedules, stakeholder involvement in the design process, structured reviews and sign off for deliverables at appropriate milestones.
6. Support project managers in project processes and vendor performance using appropriate metrics, such as; scope management, change orders, requests for information, performance against schedules, and customer satisfaction reviews.
7. Lead processes that identify/reconcile building cost estimates with available construction funds and project development funds.
8. Minimize disruption during the design and construction process to ensure business continuity of college operations at all campuses and centers.
9. Integrate necessary maintenance projects into overall larger capital project scope where applicable and coordinate plans to address such work with appropriate staff.
10.Monitor and ensure continuity of planning, design and construction processes and documents, with maintenance operations to achieve effective integration of new facilities, systems, and technology.
11.Oversee construction record document maintenance and other related project information associated with bond projects, and ensure integration with existing college facilities documentation.
12.Participate in the selection process for vendors and contractors. Participate in defining the terms and contract agreements.
13.Monitor planning and design budgets to identify potential financial overruns and variances; makes appropriate recommendations to alleviate financial implications.
14.Other related duties as assigned.
