SUN Soccer Coach, Wilkes Elementary, Highland Elementary, East Gresham Elementary
Part-time Position: 12 hours/week
Reports to: SUN Community School Site Manager
EPHC SUN is looking for some amazing soccer instructors to provide in-depth, organized, and positive soccer and classroom instruction in an after school setting! The SUN Soccer Coach will be responsible for leading highly organized soccer activities and ensuring student engagement while maintaining classroom management and positive behavior support systems for their soccer program. In addition to providing highly organized soccer activities, the SUN Soccer Coach will be responsible for organizational and classroom duties, including monitoring students during all parts of SUN programming. They will work directly with the SUN Site Manager, community members, school staff and parents to best serve the students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership and guidance to soccer team of approximately 14 students for 9 weeks during Fall SUN session.
Lead students in organized, structured soccer activities Monday-Thursday during programming weeks.
Provide students with organized classroom guidance in the following areas: homework assistance, poetry, and service learning.
Work with team on soccer skills as well as life skills such as team building, conflict resolution, homework help, community service, and character development.
Utilize Soccer for Success and Power of Poetry curricula, participate in Active Children Portland trainings and maintain weekly communication (calls, emails, etc.) with Active Children Portland administrative staff.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with soccer team participants in the SUN Extended Day.
Support students with academic work and encourage educational success to the team.
Other duties, as assigned.
Interest in and experience working with youth, preferably in a school setting.
Love of soccer - previous coaching experience not required!
Ability to lead lessons and sessions in soccer as well as academic and enrichment classes.
Ability to positively and effectively lead and manage groups of students in both soccer and academic/enrichment lessons.
Ability to work with teachers, administration, and diverse families.
Ability to think quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Ability to work within a positive growth framework for students and staff
Possess excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
Willingness to ask questions for clarification and job completion.
Desire to help children grow as individuals and students
DATES: Monday, October 2nd Thursday, December 9th. Must also be able attend Friday trainings in September.
TIMES: Monday through Thursday, 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Must be present during all programming hours.
