Multnomah County Health Department is currently seeking a Bilingual Spanish Mental Health Consultant for our School Based Mental Health program. This position is a 32 hour work week schedule based on a 10-month working schedule (approximately 42 weeks) aligned with the school year at various High schools. This recruitment requires that you are fluent in Spanish and English (verbal, written and comprehension). Proficiency test will be required.

About the program: The School Based Mental Health (SBMH) Program delivers direct mental mental health services at school-based sites in 6 school districts in Multnomah County. Sites include School-Based Health Centers (SBHC) administered by the county Health Department and other school sites throughout the 6 districts. Mental health services support the student to continue working toward 100% school completion.

What YOU will be doing as a Mental Health Consultant in local schools?

We are looking for someone that knows the Latino Community, culture, customs and challenges specific to mental health services. Someone who understands cultural/racial/ethnic factors, including systemic advantage or disadvantage; acculturation, inter-generational immigrant family challenges, effects of trauma during immigration, war, separation from family/primary supports, detention, refugee camps; generational trauma, and any factors related to non dominant culture affecting mental health and treatment.

As a Mental Health Consultant, your primary focuses are to:

Assess, facilitate and provide mental health services at school-based sites to students who are at risk of or who are experiencing a mental health disorder
Provide Prevention, Education and Outreach activities to support positive mental health development to students, staff and families.
Provide substantial outreach to uninsured or Medicaid eligible Latino Students and their Families.
