Latina Qualified Mental Health Practitioner

Full-time Position (40 hours) Non-exempt

Reports to: Director of Project UNICA Programs and Services



POSITION SUMMARY:

Project UNICA is a program within El Programa Hispano Catolico that provides prevention and intervention services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The goal of the program is to provide support, advocacy, and opportunity for self-empowerment that enables survivors to exercise free and informed life choices. Project UNICA operates the UNICA Crisis Line, which is the first and only 24-hour DV/SA Crisis Line in Spanish in Multnomah County and the state of Oregon. The Latina Qualified Mental Health Practitioner position will provide culturally and linguistically appropriate therapeutic services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence.



PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mental health assessment with Latino youth and their primary caregivers affected by Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
Develop appropriate Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment and safety plans with families that address mental health symptoms caused by trauma exposure.
Provide therapeutic intervention in a community setting including the home.
Work in conjunction with parent-child specialists as part of a family support team.
Attend weekly PCHIP meetings for case consultations and collaboration on family care.
Co-facilitate therapeutic support group Saber Es Poder for adults and children.
Participate in community meetings with other social service organizations to promote the agency as an identifiable resource for Latina survivors of sexual assault and maintain timely and cooperative contact with outside agencies.
Maintain outreach, advocacy, leadership, and service to our community.
Maintain thorough clinical documentation for a caseload of between 15 and 20 survivors.
Work closely with Program Manager to complete program evaluations and documentation needed to stay compliant with the contractual agreements.
Adherence to El Programa Hispano Catolico policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-culturally competent.
Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
Master's degree in social/human services or mental health field or (QMHP).
Experience working with survivors of interpersonal violence and trauma recovery (2 years preferred).
Understand the effects of racism, discrimination, sexism, power, privilege and oppression on one's own life and career and those of the client.
Demonstrate strong clinical and crisis management skills as well as comprehension of various diagnoses including PTSD.
Commitment to EPHC mission to work in partnership with vulnerable populations to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
Strong analytical and strategic problem solving skills.
Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics within a fast-paced environment.
Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time management, problem prevention, and problem solving skills.
Ability to lift 20 pounds.
Position will require travel to Clackamas, Washington and Multnomah Counties.
Successful completion of civil, criminal and/or motor vehicle background check, drivers license and current auto insurance (minimum 100/300/100 coverage is required).
Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.


COMPENSATION: This compensation range is $18.50-$19.75+. This position also includes covering costs for clinical supervision hours needed.
