Marmoset is seeking a Senior Software Developer.

Marmoset is seeking a Senior Software Developer with proven expertise in Ruby on Rails and Javascript. The ideal candidate has a teacher and mentor mindset, full stack capabilities, and can simultaneously maintain both micro and macro vision. As a critical member of Marmoset’s Technical Team, you’ll help us solve problems, design new features, deliver solid technical solutions -- and guide the learning and talent development of the team. We’re looking for someone to help lead innovation and product development, ultimately taking an award-winning website/app/music licensing platform to the next level. This role must work onsite at Marmoset World HQ.

What you should know: The backend is built on Ruby on Rails, uses a Postgres database, ties into third party services, and runs entirely on Heroku. The front­end is HTML, CSS, and custom JavaScript with a little help from Backbone. Marmosetmusic.com was originally designed and built by our friends at madebyflavor.com. The app won a 2014 Webby for E-Commerce and many other awards and accolades.

Our main focus for the next 12 months is: 1) Innovation -- developing new features, improvements, and solutions for both clients and internal needs, and 2) Scaling-up the app to meet our rapidly growing business needs -- maintaining a clear focus on sound architecture and sustainable growth.

This opportunity includes the following technical requirements:

A demonstrated expertise of Ruby on Rails framework
An understanding of modern Javascript frameworks and libraries (i.e. jQuery, Prototype, AngularJS, Backbone, Knockout, etc)
Expertise in scaling applications for increased traffic, usage, and components
A sound understanding of business logic as it applies to development and architecture
Expertise in building and expanding application architecture
Experience project managing a small development team is encouraged
Possess a solid methodology for developing and managing clean, readable, maintainable code
Working knowledge of standards­-compliant and semantic HTML, CSS, the DOM
Working knowledge of open­-source database server technology (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Working knowledge of open­-source version control systems including: Subversion and Git
Working knowledge of agile/scrum methodologies
Knowledge of other common open­-source scripting languages (ie PHP, Perl, Python, etc)
Knowledge of relevant remote services

You’re a forward thinker who considers how your work will affect others, years after you’re gone.

Passion: You have a heart for innovation and for constantly taking things to the next level. You love collaboration, teamwork, and thrive in a fun, familial, highly creative environment. Passion for music, arts and creative is a plus.

Pay: This is a senior level role with senior level compensation.
