Position Summary:
The Resident and Community Services Coordinator position supports Home Forward's strategic and operational objectives in the following way:

Plan, coordinate and provide resident, family, community service, community building, and social and educational services to improve the stability, quality of community life, and wellness of individuals and families. Duties are site or program based, vary with site or program needs, and may include, for example, to assess the needs of individuals and families in order to provide referrals to community service providers and partners; to provide ongoing case coordination and resident communications; to collaborate with site management staff, landlords and other key housing staff to ensure all services are coordinated effectively and consistently; to respond to and intervene in resident problems and crises, to create, develop, and implement community, organization, and program initiatives; and to create and implement resident initiatives designed to build leadership and promote inclusion in the development of communities.

In this context, the incumbent in this position will collaborate with others at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders in the consideration of significant goals, concepts, initiatives, and other activities that profoundly affect Home Forward, its employees, and the people that it serves.

This position will primarily support two properties, The Jeffrey, and Hamilton West, on a rotating schedule and will occasionally take resident service calls and request for The Yards @ Union Station in NW Portland.


Mondays - Wednesdays The Jeffrey, a six-story apartment community in downtown SW Portland

Thursdays Hamilton West, in downtown SW Portland

Fridays Split shift, Hamilton West/The Jeffrey

About the Jeffrey Apartments::

The Jeffrey Apartments offers a variety of housing, including both apartments that are subsidized and unsubsidized (income restricted). These include apartments that are for residents who have been recently homeless. Case Managers who have supported these residents to make the transition to housing will continue to work with them after they become residents. Home Forward's Resident and Community Service Coordinator will need skills in partnering with such case managers and teamwork to provide support for these residents. Age disparity is a characteristic of the Jeffrey residents; the age span of residents is 21-90 years. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with people who have been homeless and have made successful transition to being housed, strong assessment skills, and experience working with people who experience mental illness and substance abuse will be of value.

The position is represented by AFSCME Local 3135 and will close once a satisfactory number of qualified applications are received. For best consideration, apply early.

The ideal candidate will have Equivalent to bachelors OR associate OR post high school trade/specialty studies; three years of increasingly responsible experience in the social work or social services with an emphasis in direct client work with individuals and/or families, case coordination, and program development; possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license. Alternative education and experience qualifications welcome.
