Regulatory Paralegal (R18-070)
Effectively and efficiently provide assistance and support to the Regulatory Practice Group of the Legal Department, working with the attorneys, legal assistants, regulators, clients, customers, and outside attorneys. Assignments can be general or specific with some decision making latitude within defined and delegated parameters. Track, manage and handle multiple tasks on a variety of Regulatory requests which vary in complexity and scope. Coordinate workflow for proceedings before the Oregon Public Utility Commission (OPUC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) area; ensure smooth functioning of calendar, case management, and document management systems. Perform certain tasks attorneys would otherwise need to perform thereby allowing the attorneys to be more efficient.
Bring the following skills to our team:
Significant experience in document review, document productions and regulatory filings.
Comprehensive knowledge of legal terminology and ability to interpret and draft standard legal documents.
Excellent legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to organize and summarize information from divergent sources.
Proficient with the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel,).
Excellent knowledge of use and interpretation of legal and non-legal reference sources with emphasis on electronic research.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to interact at a professional level with clients and attorneys.
Thorough knowledge of regulatory filing process and their effect on internal and external operations.
Specialized knowledge of particular laws, regulations, administrative systems, and legal practice.
Negotiation, persuasion, and presentation skills.
The successful candidate will typically have a Paralegal Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of related law office experience with acquired knowledge which fulfills the following basic curriculum: legal research, regulatory law, legal writing, substantive law, investigative techniques, law ethics, and business law. Regulatory related experience preferred.
