This position is located in the Office of Accountability, Research & Information Services of the Oregon Department of Education (ODE). This unit's primary functions are the support of technology to deliver on initiatives and meet ODE's technology needs in support of the ODE mission. The technical expertise of staff in this unit are available to districts to support business and financial functions. The work of OIT affects all internal staff and every school, program, school district and ESD in the state. Nearly all students in the State of Oregon public school system are affected by the work in this unit.

We are recruiting for one limited duration, full-time Information Systems Specialist 7. The position will end on June 30, 2019. This position is located in Salem, Oregon and is classified and represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Information Systems Specialist 7

(a) Six (6) years of information systems experience;
(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience;
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information system experience;
(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

ISS 7 - Requested Skills - While these skills are not required candidates who are the most competitive will have the following:

Strong customer service orientation and a high degree of responsiveness to customer requirements.
Working knowledge with MS Server, MS Windows Operating Systems and/or MS Azure or other cloud services.
Working knowledge in one or more of the key IT architecture domains (Network Architecture, Network Security, Data Architecture, Server Compute & Cloud Storage, Identity Management, Access & Authentication).
Good understanding of security firewalls, network switching and routing.
Good understanding of load balancing, SSL VPN, IPSEC VPN, Proxy services, SSL Offloading.
Understanding of VLANs, vrfs and routing protocols Strong troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of 802.11 wireless network technologies.
Experience managing & configuring network security equipment such as log collection & monitoring, firewalls and rules, and patch management systems.
Understanding of monitoring for compromise, availability, performance and capacity of network devices.
Experience using industry networking and security diagnostic tools.
Good understanding of load balancing, SSL VPN, IPSEC VPN, Proxy services, SSL Offloading.
