Salary Range: $100,289 - $131,973 annually.
Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications, plus full benefits package.

The Public Works Department is currently recruiting for an Assistant Public Works Director. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to function as the chief operations manager for the Department with supervision responsibility over Senior Division Manager(s) and executive oversight responsibility for one or more of the following Divisions: Transportation, Sanitary Sewer, Surface Water Management (Storm Sewer), Public Facilities and Grounds, and Fleet and Equipment Services.

General Statement of Duties
The principal function of an employee in this class is to assist the Public Works Director in the execution of their duties, and based upon assignment may have responsibility for one or more department divisions, and/or may serve as the designated expert and representative related to mission-critical department subject matter. Incumbents apply advanced management principles with critical impact on the community, its citizens, and the organization. Incumbents exercise strategic and visionary thinking, having long-term organization-wide application and impact; develops and implements programs critical to the City, its citizens, and regional and private sector partners; and exercises control and supervision over multiple assigned functions, programs, special projects, and/or divisions, and significant resources. Incumbents supervise staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training; and implementing hiring, development, coaching, discipline, and termination procedures.

Acceptable Experience and Training
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a closely related field, and 8 years of civil engineering, construction and/or utilities management experience, including 2 years of management and leadership experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

• Oregon Professional Civil Engineer Licensure.
• Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record.
