The Heritage Tree Committee Member

Portland Parks & Recreation

Start Date: 04/02/2018

End Date: 11/30/-0001

Hello Neighbor,
Did you know there is a program dedicated to the celebration of grand trees of Portland? It’s true, since 1993 over 300 trees in Portland have been recognized for their size, age, history, and other unique qualities. But we need your help!

Recently we have seen 2-3 Heritage Trees succumb to old age, illness, or storm damage each year. The Heritage Tree Committee needs your help in finding and reviewing prospective trees for the program.

If you love trees and want to help, join the Heritage Tree Committee, apply today! Heritage Tree Committee members have a passion for trees and are especially eager to learn about the trees of Portland. New members should have some knowledge of tree species commonly found in Portland and the Pacific Northwest just the hand & leafWe encourage residents of East Portland to apply as this area has relatively few Heritage Trees. Indeed, only five Heritage Trees are located east of Hwy 205. We hope that new committee members living in East Portland neighborhoods would bring their knowledge of local trees to help expand the Heritage Tree Program eastward.

We will conduct our first review of applications starting on November 1st. However, we do accept applications year-round, on a rolling basis. To learn more about the Heritage Tree Program, please visit our website at: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/article/530106
