Paul Brown is the president of Cinder, a values-driven staffing company centering on the employee experience. Paul is leading Cinder to be a strong community partner particularly for organizations that work to improve representation of historically excluded populations.
Paul graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Computer Science and has worked in high tech for 23 years, with more than 17 in management. During that time, he has had the opportunity to work with talented people from around the world, including a 1-year expat assignment in Malaysia. After seeing many of the challenges faced by people outside the U.S. when working with U.S. corporations, Paul began a personal journey to better hear and understand systemically marginalized voices in his daily life. This led to him leaving Intel in 2013 to run Cinder. Paul and his team work tirelessly to incorporate EDI into its internal work as well as its external brand including speaking and writing publicly on EDI-related topics.
Paul volunteers his time at The Oregon Community Foundation and is a member of both their Portland Metro & Eastern Oregon Leadership Council. Other volunteer activities include work with the Oregon Food Bank, Oregon Community Food Systems Network, and Growing Gardens.
