A Survey of Civic Life

City of Portland Office of Community & Civic Life

Portland, Oregon

Start Date: 01/15/2019

End Date: 02/15/2019

What are your thoughts on civic engagement? Have you lived in Portland for less than 10 years? We are asking for your input as we create a framework for civic engagement in the City of Portland. Take our quick five-minute survey to share your ideas! Get started here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/partnersindiversity. So far, we have heard from over 590 Portlanders! Nearly 70% of respondents identify as having lived in Portland for over 10 years, and we are particularly interested to hear from people with diverse backgrounds who are new to Portland to provide input on how civic engagement in Portland can better reflect the many ways communities would like to engage, work, and communicate with their government. As we do this critical work, we are being intentional in expanding authentic partnership with communities that want to engage with our office and with their local government. City of Portland Office of Community & Civic Life (Civic Life) connects the people of Portland with their government and with each other. We are now working on revising City Code Chapter 3.96; the city code that defines the work of our Bureau. This code, last updated in 2005—is no longer reflective of the bureau’s current portfolio, services, and constituents. More information about the code change here: https://www.portlandoregon.gov/civic/codechange
