RSVP through the link is mandatory. Membership is free, but only members can RSVP. We'll have a child friendly and focused educational and fun walk led by Metro Rangers from 11-1, then we will picnic at our reserved shelter while we learn about the amazing Estella Ehelebe from 1-3. Food will be provided. There will be appetizers, veggies and fruit. We'll meet in Section A, Alder Shelter. Drive past the Welcome Center for about 5 minutes or so until you see the open field, river area and shelter to the left. Turn left and park in the lot in front of the shelter. Parking is $5, paid at the park entrance. We'll start right on time in our circle at 11 and hike out at 11:15 out of respect for our volunteer guide's time. If you arrive late at the shelter, we'll return from the hike between 12pm and 1pm. There is no cell service or internet this deep in the woods so just wait at the shelter if you arrive late. Or explore and come back at 1pm. Bring shoes to walk in, sunscreen, rain gear, binoculars, and camera. The paths are fairly flat but not paved. There is a river, but this is not a swimming event. Oxbow is a sensitive wildlife habitat, so pets can not join us on this event. Sorry! Some transportation will be provided, with gas and parking reimbursement for those that carpool.
