NEW Leadership™ Oregon 2020 Application

Portland State University

Start Date: 06/18/2020

End Date: 06/23/2020

The people of Oregon must be committed to building leaders today to solve the problems of tomorrow. The next generation of leaders will face a growing list of complex issues and must be prepared to step forward with vision, courage, and the skills to meet the challenge. Located on the campus of Portland State University within the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government is a bold women’s leadership initiative. National Education for Women’s Leadership of Oregon (NEW Leadership™  Oregon) is committed to inspiring, educating, and supporting the next generation of women leaders. NEW Leadership™  Oregon is modeled after the award-winning leadership program designed by the renowned Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University. Open to college women enrolled at any college or university in the state of Oregon, NEW Leadership™  Oregon runs an inclusive women-centered leadership program that educates and encourages outstanding college women to develop paths towards leadership.

NEW Leadership™  Oregon's ongoing program starts with an intensive, six-day, residential leadership training, specifically designed to introduce Oregon's college women to opportunities for leadership. In addition, we have a September Training day to address issues such as wage negotiation, board service, and career enhancement, as well as ongoing networking, mentoring and educational opportunities. By participating in the NEW Leadership™  Oregon program, college women find out why and how to develop their own leadership skills through interaction with Oregon's past and present women officeholders, business leaders, policy specialists, and activists. Hands-on skills-building workshops teach women to lead by taking action.

Additional information about the NEW Leadership™  Oregon program can be found online at thecenterforwomensleadership.org or by contacting Mandee Campos at the Center for Women's Leadership at 503.725.5122 or at Mandee.Campos@pdx.edu.
