Nic Francisco

They/Them | Women's Resource Center director

Employer: Portland State University

Moved Here from: Binghamton, NY on August 2022

Why did you move here?

I moved back to Portland to join the Women's Resource Center team at PSU and practice a liberatory politic in my work to support marginalized students in higher education. At the heart of my work are collaboration and collective production. I challenge capitalist impulses and ideology in all that I do, theorizing and implementing liberatory practices in higher education and community organizing. We must be ambitious in our visions of freedom, and we must practice those liberatory visions in our everyday lives. I believe I can more fully practice this politic at PSU and in Portland than where I was previously.

What is one thing that you need/want from a community right now?

QTBIPOC connections, especially Pacific Islanders.

What kind of civic connection are you interested in making?

I am interested in connecting with folks whose work is collaborative, creative, and toward collective liberation.
