The Capital Project Services (CPS) Division Manager is a member of the Department of Land Use & Transportation's executive leadership team and oversees a capital program constructing $80M in infrastructure improvements annually, in addition to leading a professional and administrative staff of 45 employees.

The CPS Division Manager has oversight responsibility for the services and activities of the Division. The mission of the Department of Land Use & Transportation is to provide a safe and efficient transportation system that supports livable neighborhoods, multiple modes, and a vital economy in partnership with a diverse community.

The ideal candidate will be a resourceful problem solver, a proactive and strategic decision-maker, and an adept team-builder, all skills critical towards facilitating initiatives and projects. This position requires a decisive, yet collaborative and inclusive management style that builds accountability for staff and a positive working environment characterized by, teamwork, innovation, and a sense of ownership.

The successful candidate must have outstanding personal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex issues in a straightforward manner. Additional desired qualities include an objective and inclusive approach to problem solving, and well-developed decision-making abilities. Strong management skills and proven experience motivating and developing staff members to achieve excellent performance is a must.

Education and Experience
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Bachelor's Degree in transportation, urban planning, project management, construction management, engineering, public administration, or business administration, or a closely related field; AND
Ten (10) years of professional work experience in the management of public works capital improvement programs, including both technical and administrative responsibilities, of which six (6) years of work experience must be in a senior management role and two (2) years of which include supervising professional-level staff. OR
Master's Degree in the field of transportation, urban planning, project management, construction management, engineering, public administration, or business administration, or a closely related field; AND
Eight (8) years of professional work experience in in the management of public works capital improvement programs, including both technical and administrative responsibilities, of which six (6) years of work experience must be in a senior management role and two (2) years of which include supervising professional-level staff.
