Senior Cost Accounting Analyst

What you will do:
The Cost Analyst conducts and documents complex financial analysis to assist in strategic financial decisions and plays a key role in supporting and developing overall financial analysis. Analysis areas include, but are not limited to, Cost Accounting, Product Line Analysis, Capital Projects as well as supporting new financial analysis projects as they become available.
Here’s a day in the life:
Responsible for evaluating current financial performance in several key areas
Review Gross Margins versus budgets and forecasts and provide analysis of variances
Review costs of goods sold, non-dairy make, delivery expenses vs. budget and forecasting using financial modeling
Perform month end closing duties pertaining to COGs and manufacturing make costs, including inventory account reconciliations and other journal entries as needed
Participates in cross-functional teams and provide financial analysis to evaluate investments and process changes.
Reviews economic return for capital project requests
Partners with supply chain to evaluate current logistics costs and evaluate proposals to minimize costs and to better serve customers
Reviews economics of SKU mix for various product lines and recommend changes
Evaluates net income as a result of new product developments working in conjunction with category management and research and development
Provides economic payback analysis for proposed product changes, including packaging changes product line extensions product category extensions, and new products
Cross train with other Analysts to provide back up
Understands BOM structure; able to review BOMS for integrity
Review and updates manufacturing standards
Assists the Cost Accounting Manager in preparing monthly forecasts and annual budgets
Provides monthly analysis and explanations on product margins
Supports Manufacturing, Logistics, Supply Chain with the preparation of their annual budgets
Collaborate with external auditors to provide necessary inventory information during year end audits
Determines proper allocation methodologies for corporate department.
Act as a team player with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees within all levels of the organization.
Utilize a computer with basic knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, including exceptional knowledge of Excel.
Work under pressure, meet deadlines, produce accurate reports and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrate excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Skills you’ll need:
3-5+ years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis and general accounting is required.
Experience in automating and improving processes to gain efficiency, improve accuracy and produce high quality work is required.
High level ERP and system experience is required;
Consumer Packaged Good experience is preferred and/or Dairy experience is preferred
Strong Manufacturing experience is required.
Must have strong knowledge of GAAP and fully understand accounting theory.
