Our Parking Control Representatives ensure a smooth and safe flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic in front of the terminal. Provide direction to drivers of vehicles dropping off and picking up travelers on terminal roadways.
Guide pedestrian traffic on the airport terminal sidewalk and crosswalks.
Answer questions and provide information to customers regarding airport use, services, and the Portland metropolitan area.
Monitor disabled parking zones in the parking garage when requested for assistance with enforcement action.
Works towards resolution of concerns with a demeanor of kindness and an attitude of service, being cooperative and non-confrontational and actively forward complaints to the appropriate department.
When necessary issue parking citations, and may testify in court as needed.


Minimum of one-year experience involving a high level of public contact is required. Previous experience in traffic direction, parking control, or a related field is preferred.
Experience demonstrating cooperative, tactful, and service-oriented contact with the public is required. Familiarity with the City of Portland is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment with difficult customers in a diverse multi-cultural environment is required.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service is required.


Excellent listening, verbal and non-verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.

Ability to:
Resolve argumentative situations using verbal skills and tact.
Pass a physical examination and baseline hearing test, when requested.
Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and to be on feet for long periods of time.
Work independently or in a group with limited supervision.
Shows the utmost respect for others and is a proven team player.
