The Diversity & Inclusion department at Kaiser Permanente strives to create an inclusive work environment for all employees, allowing each person to contribute to their full potential, regardless of background. Our mission is to continue advancing Kaiser Permanente, as an employer of choice for all people by focusing on the actions and behaviors of our employees and how we work with one another. Everyone has a stake in the game. The Diversity Consultant will be a partner with every business department to support the growth and development of all employees, educate and promote the cultural dimensions of our employees and work environment, and build external strategic relationships with professional, academic, and community organizations. The Diversity Consultant's role is to support the workplace component of our integrated diversity and inclusion strategy. This entails creating a culture where employees are allowed to contribute their full potential by being true to themselves, embrace and better understand cultural celebrations, and heighten awareness around diverse cultures through experiential learning. Participation should be encouraged and supported from management and their teams to set the example in creating a more inclusive work environment. The consultant has three (3) main responsibilities.
• First, the consultant will be responsible for managing our Staff Associations, Regional Diversity Council, Diversity Champions, and any other type of employee diversity group to ensure visible support, engagement, execution, and accountability in alignment with our diversity strategy and company policies.
• Second, the consultant will be a key partner and provide expertise and collaboration with HR and business departments. The consultant will be expected to conduct research on best practices and recommend strategic solutions for continuous improvement of our diversity initiatives. He/she will work closely with HR and the business departments to ensure the on-going support of our diversity strategy in creating an inclusive work environment.
• Third, the consultant will be a support for our team around the workforce and marketplace components of our integrated diversity and inclusion strategy. This encompasses facilitating some learning workshops, participating in sponsored community efforts, creating and building external relationships with individuals and organizations that support Kaiser Permanente's diversity objectives, and developing a network of diversity recruitment sources.
