Salary Grade: The hiring range for this position if $63,000-$73,000/year depending on qualifications.
Primary Work Location: Online, remote.
Work Schedule: Weekdays during regular business hours; some evening and weekend work required.

The Methodologist is a non-ranked faculty member within the College of Education who, in collaboration with other committee members, oversees the doctoral candidate’s methodology and research protocol as per the requirements set forth by Concordia University and the College of Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Instruct and advise up to 50 doctoral candidates in the Doctorate of Education program on qualitative and quantitative methodology, dissertation research methodology and project design. This instruction and advising takes place within the Doctorate of Education program online EDDR courses and through direct online advising of candidates assigned to the faculty member. 65%
2. Promote and mentor the development of well-designed research protocols using quantitative and qualitative methodological designs, methods, and analysis procedures appropriate to each dissertation research project. 20%
3. Work collaboratively with Faculty Chair and/or other committee members who are supporting candidates in development of their dissertation and research. 12.5%
4. Other duties as assigned by the Director and Methodology Coordinator. 2.5%

-Day-to-day operational reporting to Methodology Coordinator
-Works collaboratively with Faculty Chairs and other committee members who are guiding candidates in development of their research

Scope of Work:
Work is subject to academic review. Acts as a subject matter expert. Keeps leaders informed of results, outcomes and obstacles. Activities and tasks support the mission and operations of the College of Education and include following standard operating procedures through course of work. May initiate actions in support of departmental operations. Requires knowledge of institution policies and practices.

Minimum Physical Requirements:
-Able to use technology and administrative software (i.e. Blackboard, Microsoft Office Suite, Taskstream, etc.) to enter data, respond to inquiries, and create teaching materials.
-Able to read, comprehend, and critique complex written materials.
-Able to perform quantitative analysis in an accurate and timely manner.
-Able to communicate effectively in electronically and via telephone.
-Able to tolerate prolonged sitting and keyboarding.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
-An earned doctorate in education research or a related field.
3-5 years of quantitative and qualitative methodology advising experience. Experience working within a higher education environment required.
-Demonstrated experience in conducting quantitative research in the social sciences including survey, correlational, causal-comparative, and experimental design.
-Demonstrated knowledge/experience in qualitative research in the social sciences including the following designs: phenomenology, qualitative case study, narrative, and action research.
-Demonstrated experience with guiding students with dissertation projects following prescribed American Psychological Association guidelines.
-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams to support candidates in development of their dissertation and research.

-Proficient using educational research software such as Blackboard, Qualtrics, Taskstream, SPSS, Atlas.ti, Nvivo, and/or IRBNet
-Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access PowerPoint, and Outlook.
-Able to enter data in a database in an accurate and timely manner. Able to readily learn to use existing administrative software including Banner, Blackboard and Task Stream.
-Able to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
-Working knowledge of FERPA and ability to handle confidential information with tact, discretion and good judgement.
