Energy Storage Planning Engineer

Develop opportunities in Energy Storage to modernize a more flexible and resilient T&D system and support PGE’s Green Energy future. Performs engineering studies and analyses on PGE’s transmission and distribution system and recommends engineering solutions to integrate energy storage into PGE’s grid planning and operations.
Performs engineering studies and analyses for distribution service to PGE customers. . Prepares engineering solutions leveraging energy storage systems to mitigate system risk and optimize system investment. Documents study results, makes recommendations and fosters project scoping/estimating processes when preparing capital project funding requests.


Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency.
Typically two or fewer years in engineering.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
Functional Competencies
Intermediate skills in programming, experience with Python preferred
Working knowledge of powerflow modeling software
Working knowledge of engineering and economic principles and concepts.
Working knowledge of other engineering disciplines and working ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
Working knowledge and application of engineering processes and procedures.
Working industry knowledge and technology trends.
Working knowledge of company QA/QC process and procedures.
Working knowledge of construction feasibility.
Working knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
Working knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates.
Working knowledge of initiating electrical improvements and corrective actions for the distribution system related facilities.
Working knowledge in calculating electrical system parameters and distribution system modeling.
Working knowledge of substations, control and protection systems preferred.
Working ability to review, evaluate and analyze technical information, policies and reports.
