Central City Concern’s (CCC) Blackburn Center is a new six-floor building in East Portland, Oregon (clinic and housing) that will give vulnerable people access to integrated housing, employment and health services, and provide support they need to stabilize and rebuild their lives.
CCC is hiring employees to help lift this project to national prominence. TITLE: Blackburn Registration Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Blackburn Center
REPORTS TO: Director of Client Access Services
SALARY: $16.00-$17.60 Hourly, DOE
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

SUMMARY: The Blackburn Center is an innovative program that will offer integrated housing, health care, and employment services with the long term goal of eliminating homelessness. We seek to change how these services are delivered to all people, especially vulnerable populations.

This position will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team at the Blackburn Center to deliver comprehensive, person-centered, integrated services to the Portland Eastside community. The Registration Specialist plays an invaluable role in beginning relationships with new clients engaging in services for the first time at our integrated health clinic. They will provide a welcoming climate while informing of the services that we offer and assessing for those that the patient/client is interested in receiving. They will gather detailed demographic and financial information and verify insurance coverage. They will review our payment policies and complete sliding fee agreements, connecting the patient/client to an Insurance Assistor as applicable. They will assist patients/clients complete Releases of Information (ROI), privacy forms, medical history and other necessary forms.

The Registration Specialist will be responsible for maintaining spreadsheets and ensuring accuracy of intake supply and demand. They stay informed of which providers are open for new patients/clients. They document information into Centricity, copy or scan and fax documents. They are the point of contact for other CCC programs or outside agencies referring patients/clients for engagement with our clinic.

1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
2. One year + registration experience in a clinical setting.
3. Experience working with diverse populations.
4. Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
5. Ability to work calmly with patients/clients that are often in distress or agitated.
6. Must have current CPR certification or must be able to obtain in one month.
7. If in recovery, must be able to document continuous abstinence under independent living
conditions or recovery housing for the immediate past two years.
8. Must pass pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check.
9. Must generally have the ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift
heavy objects, and climb stairs with reasonable or no accommodation.
10. Must adhere to agency’s non-discrimination policies.
11. Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds,
religious views, political affiliations, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, and sexual orientations,
treating each individual with respect and dignity.
