Development Assistant


Part-time (20 hours/week); Non-exempt

Reports to: Executive Director of Development


The Development Assistant helps to develop and distribute communication that connects our donors, partners, and the community with EPHC. This new position will collaborate closely with the development team and other departments to produce campaign materials, and messaging that tells powerful stories of our impact. The Development Assistant must be creative, detail-oriented, and enjoy working within an environment that is mission and results-driven, donor centric, and customer service-oriented. This position supports our fundraising, community engagement, and strategic goals. EPHC serves the community in a positive, responsive manner and as such, we share messaging that reflects hope, resiliency, and empowerment.


Supports the implementation of the comprehensive EPHC communications plan to raise public awareness, maximize visibility, and increase fundraising.
Brand consistency: This includes developing, formatting, and editing materials, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other related documents from across the organization, as needed.
Digital communications: co-develops/edits written and visual content for social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and eBlasts.
Manage an active editorial calendar and coordinate with other staff members to ensure timely completion of action items and news.
Solicits and edits stories from staff, board, volunteers, participants, stakeholders, donors, and community partners.
Supports with cultivating media relationships. Drafts and submits media releases
Gathers, creates, and oversees content, photos, video, stories, and other assets for communications.
Develop and maintain files of donors, prospects, organizations, and corporations for the purposes of sending newsletters, emails, mailings and social media posts related to EPHC.
Facilitate and carry out the processes necessary for tracking gifts and pledges, record donations or pledges made to EPHC from sponsorships, memberships, endowments, major gifts, grants, and/or other campaigns, projects, or special events.
Stays informed of communications (social media, website, fundraising appeals, etc.) best practices, trends, and emerging platforms
Produce updated reports of donors and prospects for the purposes of monthly development committee and/or board reporting.
Schedule appointments with prospective or current donors as requested by the Director of Development.
Administrative Support for the Development Department coordinating logistics for meetings (presentations, interdepartmental meetings, trainings, etc.) to include scheduling, room set up and clean up, catering, signage, and technology needs.
Provide administrative support to the Development and Marketing Committee (DMC), assist department staff in the creation and production of board committee materials, prepare and take meeting minutes, and provide follow up support on action items.
Complete travel and expense reports, invoices and grant/contract tracking.
Supports the development team with special events and projects, as needed.
Adherence to EPHC policies and procedures.
Participate in trainings and coordination meetings as requested by Supervisor.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-culturally competent.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
Comfortable with a collaborative writing and editing process.
Critical thinking in complex or ambiguous situations
Excellent proficiency in all programs of Microsoft Office; WordPress, e-mail marketing programs, social media applications, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Graphic design and database experience is a plus
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.
Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which could include some evenings or weekends.
Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Must have driver's license, ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency (100/300/100). Frequent driving in the Tri-County area required.
Satisfactory results from civil, criminal and motor vehicle background check required.

COMPENSATION: Pay range for this position is $18-$20/hr. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
