What We’re Looking For:
FoodCorps is seeking a strategy-minded Leadership Director who will work full-time building and managing an innovative leadership development program aimed at training the next generation of progressive school food leaders. The Leadership Director for FoodCorps’ Healthy School Meals Initiative will be responsible for all elements of launching and directing this exciting new program, including: recruiting and selecting ideal candidates, training and mentorship for program participants, building and maintaining relationships with mentor districts where participants will be placed, developing career services offerings for program alumni, and generally managing the day-to-day operations of the program. This values-aligned leadership program will play a critical role in advancing the health of school meals in across the country
The Leadership Director will report to FoodCorps’ Senior Director, Healthy School Meals Initiative. This is a full-time position, occasional travel is required (~10%).
This role has the ability to be based out of our Portland, New York City, or D.C. office.

Build and operationalize FoodCorps’ Healthy School Meals Leadership program
Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to implement all elements of the leadership program, including recruitment, selection, training, communications, evaluation, career placement, and other functions
Build trusting, long-term, mutually-beneficial, and accountability-focused relationships with program placement sites
Design enriching cohort experiences for participants that build connectivity to one another and loyalty to FoodCorps
Develop leadership program communication and collaboration systems
Act as the key point person for all leadership program members and placement sites
Work closely with Alumni Manager and Network Director to integrate participants and graduates into the network
Support FoodCorps’ Marketing & Communications team and Growth & Development teams in marketing and funding the program
Additional responsibilities will be collaboratively developed as the program is launched
Skills of the Ideal Candidate:
Demonstrated experience developing and executing leadership strategies
Demonstrated partnership management experience, with a special focus on school-based partnerships
Experience in start-up environments or experience building new organizational initiatives
Familiarity with school nutrition operations and policies, specifically an understanding of school food procurement, local and regional sourcing, menu development, and other areas of school nutrition administration
Systems-minded, approaching organizational development with an entrepreneurial eye
Process-oriented with a strong ability to build efficient systems for information management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Intellectual curiosity and ability to think outside of the box to efficiently solve complex problems
Comfortable with an organizational environment that is fast-paced with an emphasis on technology and collaboration amongst geographically distributed staff and partners
Self-directed and flexible, and excels in a deadline-driven environment
Bachelor’s degree is required
Minimum eight years professional work experience, with increasing levels of management and responsibility

FoodCorps pays salaries that are competitive with nonprofits of our budget size and geographic location, and offers generous vacation and medical benefits, 401(k) matching, professional development funds and a sabbatical policy. This position is a Director level role with a salary range starting at $90,000.
