During the school year, Camp Fire Columbia offers after-school programming at 15 schools in Portland and West Linn. We work with students from Kindergarten to 5th grade offering homework help to facilitating enrichment clubs. Through our after-school programming we empower youth to find and pursue their passions. Lead Site Instructor Position Overview: Full-Time Seasonal (School year: August 9, 2019 -June 12, 2020)
This Lead Instructor is responsible for supporting the Site Supervisor in overseeing and facilitating Camp Fire after-school activities for diverse student populations at elementary schools in grades K-5 during the school year. This position takes a leadership role in planning and teaching sequenced lessons in classroom and other school settings for up to 15 youth, while assisting the Site Supervisor in program management, and supporting site staff in developing engaging curriculum. The Lead Instructors will strive to achieve youth development outcomes by engaging program participants in academic enrichment and support, creative arts, active recreation, community building, community-based learning, and leadership activities. This position also includes regularly maintaining and updating the materials in the program space to create a welcoming and stimulating environment.
Salary and Benefits

Competitive Compensation: $15-$16/hr, 30-40 hours/week.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Direct instruction of participants in a before and after school program setting while maintaining program expectations and behavior management with small groups of up to 15 program participants and large groups as a team for up to 60 program participants.
Support the Site Supervisor in planning academic support time that includes diverse and developmentally appropriate options for all students.
Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance for scheduled morning and afternoon shifts while also completing tasks and attending scheduled meetings off site.
Provide clear and direct feedback to staff on written curriculum and connect staff with existing curriculum and/or resources as needed.
Plan and implement Community-Based Learning projects each quarter.
Manage supplies by maintaining current inventory, ensuring games, art supplies, and equipment are in good working repair and that there are developmentally appropriate games and supplies for all ages in program.
Assist the Site Supervisor with program facilitation including group meetings, transitions, behavior management and family communication.
Gives feedback and support to staff and supports their professional development through recommending trainings.
Supports Supervisor in administrative and logistical duties to include: monthly budget and program tracking, program updates to the Development and Communication department, supply and snack shopping.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience instructing in an afterschool program environment that involves solo teaching, outcome-based lesson planning and current best practices in youth development, and behavior management for students. Working knowledge of youth development and programming, including best practices in mentoring, academic enrichment, youth adult partnerships, life-skills, and leadership development is strongly preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A valid insurable Driver’s License is preferred. This position also requires a valid Oregon Food Handler’s card and First Aid & CPR certification and OCC Basic Safety Set Trainings, plus >15 hours of approved professional development per license year. Oregon Central Background Registry; Step 8 or above on the Oregon Step Registry preferred.
