This role will oversee Global Logistics strategy implementation by leading a team that will leverage logistics volumes and spend as well as providing dynamic service to internal stakeholders and external customers. The role will also oversee the associates who manage inbound / outbound transportation negotiations. This position will work collaboratively to ensure service to our stakeholders and customers in all regions and channels, optimize cost, seek system and process improvements as well as ensure constant communication and talent development. This position will develop all KPI’s and metrics to evaluate global logistics vendor performance and develop communication tools to maximize regional service. This role will implement industry best practices within the global logistics function and educate Columbia personnel on transportation mode optimization.
•Lead and represent the team in initiatives that further strategically our supply chain, specifically: Omni channels, network optimization, implement new capabilities, operational excellence, metric/KPI utilization as well as human resource development.
•Establish effective international logistics processes for the physical distribution of products as well as the administrative control and information flow.
•Operate globally but interact with regional logistics functions to establish and local (in-country) logistics processes for the physical distribution of products as well as the administrative control and information flow.
•Work with regional logistics groups to identify and establish best practice for each of the core logistics functions encompassing - warehouse, transport and international logistics which can be utilized at the business and regional level and in other group divisions.
•Develop carrier relationships and establish contracts with our vendors/partners which can be used by the business to warehouse, transport, import and export materials.
•Be the focal point at a functional level and implement processes and technology investments.
•Represent and contribute on behalf of the logistics function when the organization engages in new projects, business ventures or seeks to expand into emerging and new markets as well as key initiatives.
•Represent and contribute on behalf of the logistics function when the organization seeks to rationalize and/or review its core technology investments.
•Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience
•Minimum 10 years professional experience in logistics management or relevant technical / business skills
•5+ years management experience
•Strong experience with inbound and outbound transportation negotiations
•Apparel/footwear industry experience desired
•Strong influencing skills
•Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
•Proactive and assertive in communication and follow-through with colleagues and business partners
•Broad understanding of supply chain processes, procedures and internal structure and partners
•Professionalism/Interpersonal skills – clear and concise business communication; ability to influence others, comfortable interacting with customers, sales reps and management team.
•Previous work with other cultures in a business setting and awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences
•SAP experience is a plus
