Contract Designer

Hyster-Yale Group is looking for an energetic individual who will have a positive influence on the organization and the Counterbalance Front End Design team.


Interacting with Design Engineering to understand customer requirements for masts, cylinders & hydraulic components.
Working from verbal and written instructions to execute design changes.
Working with special product development teams with short lead times for customer contract realization.
Understand how engineering changes impact Hyster-Yale records systems (training to be provided, but strategic thinking and problem solving skills are required to understand how these systems interact).
Update CAD structure and drawings as needed in ProEngineer (Creo2).
Use PLM system to create change orders and save changes.
Proofing engineering drawings for accuracy including GD&T and adherence to other international standards (i.e. ANSI/ISO).

Successful candidates will also cross-train to learn core Hyster-Yale Records data and computer software systems, and using those systems effectively, including:

Leverage vendor/supplier documentation to import their engineering part data and supporting information into Hyster-Yale systems.
Working with process owners to understand Hyster-Yale processes and maintain global standards as necessary.
Interaction with IT to administer and maintain computer software and systems.
Read and understand complex technical processes documentation and the standards governing those documents.
Create or modify engineering bills of materials to comply with internal Records standards or process requirements.
Work within an Oracle based PLM system to maintain Engineering Records.
Training of users in Hyster-Yale systems
Work within Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, or Word to maintain data.

As this role progresses it is expected that successful candidates will grow a comprehensive knowledge of how the data ‘flows’ within systems and is interconnected.


Associates degree in Engineering Technology or Drafting Certificate.
3-5 years of experience related to engineering/manufacturing of electromechanical products.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T
Attention to detail and quality.
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to focus on complex tasks.
Critical thinker with proven problem solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient user of computer systems with aptitude to learn new systems quickly.
Proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Excel, and Word
Ability to understand lift truck systems (masts, cylinders, engines, axles, etc.) and new technology
