The TSU’s Director of Financial Inclusion is a leader and expert who brings both the technical and functional skills required to lead and supervise a best-in-class technical support team, while promoting a balanced approach to team, agency and personal commitments. The director will guide agency and team strategy, relating to financial inclusion, using their deep expertise in the financial sector, as well as in program implementation and work with private sector entities. The director will be responsible for leading the team and supporting field teams in implementation of the following priorities: products and services that promote inclusion; digital financial services; institutional strengthening, all in support of financial inclusion and resilience.
The Director is current on trends in financial services and financial inclusion, including innovative financing and blended finance models, microfinance, microinsurance, agricultural finance, SME finance, formal and informal savings, financial literacy, payments and remittance services, and other technical areas that bridge the private and social sectors.
In addition to direct oversight of technical staff, the director will be a member of the TSU Leadership team composed of all Directors and Senior Directors. As such, they will be charged with regularly engaging their TSU counterparts and helping to shape and deliver on larger TSU priorities. They will seek out opportunities promote cross-TSU team coherence, on the theory that the complex problems Mercy Corps seeks to address are, by definition, multi-sectoral in nature and require shared solutions across sectors and systems. TSU Directors will also collaborate closely with many other parts of the Agency, especially the Humanitarian Leadership and Support, Program and Quality, Policy and Research, and Innovations/Ventures teams, as well as field offices.
