Salary: $50,000 to $60,000 per year – DOE and negotiable

This position oversees the financial management of the organization and is supervised by the Executive Director. The position has no direct reports.
Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems and controls.
Develop and manage agency budget in coordination with the Executive Director.
Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organization’s financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals.
Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting.
Assist Executive Director and Board in creating annual organizational budget and monitoring cash flow.
Develop, maintain and monitor all fundraising and accounting systems and procedures, capturing all pledges, invoicing and receipts and for the recording of all revenue transactions, recommend and implement improvements to systems.
Support month end closing activities including Journal Entries and General Ledger reconciliations.
Manage day to day accounts receivable & payable:
Accounts payable: receiving invoices, preparing and mailing checks, and/or entering bank or credit card information.
Accounts receivable: create check logs bi-weekly, enter all financial receivables into database, print receipts when needed.
Work closely with Development & Communications Manager to determine proper coding for financial gifts.
Manage payroll, including tabulation of accrued employee benefits.
Invoice funding sources, follow up for payment when needed.
Manage and report on event revenue and budget updates.
Organize and keep record of fiscal documents.
Produce financial reports as requested.
Government Contract Management:
Manage grantor contracts and reimbursement requests.
Ensure contractual compliance with terms and conditions, federal and state regulations and restrictions, as well as internal management objectives for existing and new business activities.
Ensure timely processing of technical reports and deliverables.
Board of Directors Collaboration:
Provide annual, quarterly and monthly financial reports to the board of directors.
Work closely with the Finance Committee.
Tax & Legal Oversight:
Reconciling monthly activity, generating year-end reports, and fulfilling tax related requirements.
Prepare for annual audit and be a liaison with auditors, and occasional reviews with CPA.
Oversee state/local and federal financial filings.
Required Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Accounting.
2-4 years general accounting experience with a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Skilled with QuickBooks accounting software.
Excellent problem solving and judgment skills, high level of attention to detail and accuracy required.
Experience working with automated databases.
Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Budget development and oversight experience
Knowledge of tax and other compliance implications of non-profit status.
Knowledge of government contract management.
Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures consistently to both simple and complex situations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion required.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.
High comfort level working in a diverse environment.
Successful completion of background check is required.
Experience in higher education or a non-profit environment.
Experience using Salesforce.
