The primary role of the Engagement and Education Manager is to ensure the provision of services in 2 program areas: 1) our Drop In Center, a space accessed by homeless youth in need of food, showers, laundry and connection to other supports & services, and 2) our Education program, which primarily provides 1 v 1 tutoring and testing for young people pursuing their GED. The Manager provides oversight and supervision of these 2 programs, including management of daily operations, supervision of staff, volunteers and interns; and the development and implementation of engagement and education activities. This position plays a key role ensuring a safe and supportive program spaces, and participates on the Program Manager team, which coordinates a broad array of services for young people age 16-24. They manage program budgets, contracts, and scheduling, and are responsible for managing food services in the Drop-In Center. They also work closely with other homeless youth providers to ensure effective communication and collaboration amongst other homeless youth providers.
The rate of pay for this position is $48,000-$55,000 depending on experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Ability and desire to work with diverse staff and youth, and excel in a multi-cultural environment
• Demonstrated understanding of Trauma Informed Care, adolescent development and Stages of Change
• Knowledge of Assertive Engagement or other social service models that draw from Strengths Based Practices, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction.
• Bi-lingual and bi-culturally competent preferred
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, nonprofit administration, or other related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years of supervisory experience
• Experience working with homeless or at-risk youth or young adults
• Bi-lingual and bi-culturally competent a plus
