GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Port has embarked on a program identified as "PDXNext" consisting of a series of projects intended to upgrade and prepare PDX for the future. PDXNext includes more than 20 projects with the largest project ever at the Port being the Terminal Core Redevelopment. This program is designed to expand, upgrade, and modernize facilities at PDX to improve the passenger experience, add technology, improve airline efficiencies, minimize our environmental impact, adding resiliency, add redundancy, and maintain PDX as America's #1 Airport. The Civil/Structural Inspector position is an exciting opportunity to assist with the inspection of construction for new facilities and refurbishing or rebuilding of existing facilities to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications. The individual in this role will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of projects during construction phase. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Perform onsite inspections, including inspecting materials, installation, and layout of contractor work
•Determine if there is unacceptable material or work with the authority to suspend work with Construction Manager's approval
•Act as liaison between all of the following stakeholders: Construction Manager, Port Operations, Tenant, Port Safety, Port environmental, and Contractors
•Maintain thorough and accurate records, keeping a daily log for each job assignment
•Verify quantities for contractors monthly pay estimate, keep as-built drawings current and prepare force account documentation
•Provide interdepartmental support including assisting survey crew as needed
•Review drawings and specifications of proposed projects for consistency with good construction practice, clarity, and internal consistency

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Associate's degree in engineering, construction inspection, survey or related field
•Minimum of five years of experience in multiple inspection disciplines which includes experience reading and interpreting drawings and specifications involving many technical disciplines; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience
•Working knowledge of general construction practices and safety practices associated with construction
•Advanced knowledge of engineering, surveying, and construction terminology as well as standard practices and procedures
•Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
•Ability to obtain a valid Oregon or Washington driver's license
•Ability to obtain security badging at PDX and/or other Port facilities, which may require a criminal background check

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•Skilled with MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
•Ability to build and maintain good working relationships under adverse conditions
•Ability to prioritize and perform in complex, fast-paced situations
•Skilled at record keeping and accuracy
•Ability to function in year-round weather conditions and negotiate all types of terrain
•Skilled at working independently with minimal supervision
