The Oregon Health Authority – Office of Health Information Technology (OHIT) is currently seeking an OHIT Policy Analyst (Operations and Policy Analyst 2) Limited Duration to join their team in Portland, Oregon. This position supports senior staff and management to increase the use of health IT across Oregon’s care community and advance Oregon’s health IT goals.
What you will do!
As the OHIT Policy Analyst you will provide policy analysis and coordination for OHIT’s policy team. Your primary functions include analyzing and evaluating existing or proposed policies, eliciting and documenting issues and needs from internal and external stakeholders, developing and documenting work plans, creating stakeholder materials, and preparing for stakeholder meetings. You will rely on your knowledge of the health care industry and experience in policy to assist with the monitoring, analyzing and interpretation of policy.
You will be responsible for conceptualizing and completing multiple projects with minimal supervision to meet deadlines. This encompasses the preparation of draft content and materials and basic project management (e.g. developing and monitoring timelines, logistics). You will be working with senior level decision makers, staff, and internal and external stakeholders in which clear and concise verbal and written communication is paramount.
Travel to Salem is required 3-4 times each month or as needed. Occasional in- and out-of-state travel may be required.
What we are looking for!
A bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, behavioral/social science, finance, political science, information systems, computer science, or any related degree; and two years of professional level evaluative, analytical and planning work experience in Policy; OR any combination of experience and education equivalent to five years of professional level evaluative, analytical and planning work experience in Policy.
Experience using software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of the health care industry such as Medicaid or Medicare programs; health care delivery systems; health care policy, health care clinical practice, health information technology, or Oregon's health care transformation initiatives.
Experience communicating information verbally and in writing to peers, management, and external stakeholders/customers.
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction that included, keeping track of timelines that resulted in timely, accurate, and completed assignments.
Proficiency with writing documents, whitepapers and presentations, and with presenting key takeaways in a concise fashion.
Experience in advancing health equity, addressing systemic health disparities and collaborating with diverse, vulnerable and underrepresented populations.
