The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) in the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science (MCECS) at Portland State University (PSU) invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering to begin September 2020. The position requires an earned doctorate in civil engineering or closely related field. While the target of hiring is at the assistant professor level, outstanding applicants may be considered at all levels (associate/full professor). A successful candidate will be required to develop an externally-sponsored research program aligned with the department’s strategic vision, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop new graduate courses in their area of expertise, and effectively serve the profession and university.

For this position, we seek candidates with a research focus in one or more of the following areas: water resources and management, watersheds, hydrology and hydrologic modeling, fluvial and coastal systems, and the role/impact of climate change in the environment. A successful candidate will complement our existing departmental strengths in water quality and water quality modeling, subsurface hydrology and pollutant transport, environmental pollution characterization and control, and coastal systems, and build new strengths based on their research interest. Candidates who can effectively teach and mentor a diverse student body who also enhance the MCECS strategic research directions are especially encouraged to apply.
