What you will be doing!

In this role you will manage the Information Technology Service (ITS) section and provide strategic direction to support the agency business needs. You will fill in for the CIO on a regular basis and are responsible either directly or through subordinate managers for the day-to-day operations of ITS; work with staff, department heads, external vendors, peer agencies, the State Data Center, Office of the State CIO, and Legislative and Financial management from the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). You will be responsible for the security of agency assets and for compliance with state and federal law. You will also support the CIO to maximize the IT section’s contribution to the agency mission, purpose, and intent to provide a sound operating platform on which to launch new initiatives. This work includes maintaining and sustaining current applications in the Mainframe, AIX, and Windows environment while also contributing to ongoing modernization efforts to create the Employment Department’s future modernized state. In addition, you will be responsible for carrying out the agency’s affirmative action, diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and responsibilities.

What we are looking for!

Excellent leadership skills, including developing and leading a team of reporting managers, developing policies and procedures, business process development and reengineering, project management, organizational development, people management, and internal customer relations.
Excellent administrative management skills, including decision-making, planning, human resources, budgeting, financial reporting, and contracting.
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences.
Knowledge of IT systems, IT risk management and mitigation, ITIL, service management, business continuity planning, and enterprise architecture and the ability to communicate on these topics with a wide range of individuals who may not have knowledge of these technical disciplines.
Understanding of current technology, forward thinking trends, best practices and frameworks.

Required Minimum Qualifications:Four (4)years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation,andd) budget preparation; ORthreeyears of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation,andd) budget preparation;AND45-48 quarter hours(30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management.
