As our Youth Basketball Support Coach, you will provide a fun and safe experience for participants while they learn individual and team skills, sportsmanship and ways to live healthy and active lifestyles. You will coach at various Trail Blazers camps, clinics, coach’s trainings and related events.
You will be responsible for:
. Participating in bi-weekly coaches’ meetings by attending in-person or calling in
. Submitting availability that allows for open weekends, weeknights OR weekdays (must be available at least 5 hours per week, with increased availability during Winter / Spring and Summer Breaks for Camps)
. Attending a minimum of 1 Trail Blazers Sanctioned Coach training per Fiscal Year
. Attending required First-Aid Training
. Participate in required online USAB course
. Supporting the implementation of Curriculum provided into activations (PE Takeovers, Coaching Trainings, Camps, miscellaneous events
. Wearing current Trail Blazers Nike Gear (issued by management)
. Assisting with set-up and take-down at all worked events
. Following event expectations per Manager, Lead Coach & onsite point of contact
. Collecting youth/parent feedback informally after events to share with lead coach and greater team
. Reflecting Trail Blazer brand expectations
. Providing coaching insights in the development of a Trail Blazers Curriculum
. Providing Youth insights and cultural trends in ideation sessions to improve and develop strong programs
. Encouraging and mentoring youth
. Other tasks as assigned
You are qualified if:
. You are 18 years of age or older
. You are available to work Trail Blazers camps and clinics throughout the year (15-20 hours per week)
. You have experience working with children
. You know and love the game of basketball, required
. You have prior coaching experience, required
. You possess strong organizational skills, patience, maturity, dependability and flexibility
. You are able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
. You can move up to 50+ pounds on occasion
. You possess First Aid, AED and CPR certifications, preferred
. You are USA Basketball certified, preferred
. You provide a safe and welcoming environment for all youth
