The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has a full-time opportunity for an Agency Receptionist (Public Service Representative 2) in Portland, Oregon.

The mission of DEQ is to be a leader in restoring, maintaining, and enhancing the quality of Oregon’s air, land, and water. The agency has 3 regional divisions (Northwest, Eastern, and Western), a Central Services Division (housed at Headquarters), a Vehicle Inspection Program, a Laboratory and Environmental Assessment Division, and divisions for Water, Air, and Land. This position is within the Director’s Office, which provides DEQ with overall leadership.
What you will do!
The Receptionist provides telephone and in-person reception for DEQ’s headquarters location. This is an opportunity for you to let your strong customer service and organizational skills shine, as you field questions over the phone, assist agency visitors, handle incoming and outgoing mail, and handle fleet vehicle reservations for staff.

What are we looking for?
One year of experience in Public Contact (such as a Public Service Representative, Salesperson, or Receptionist), which included answering questions and providing information.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, including interacting with visitors and the public, while maintaining the telephone console and answering phone calls.
Experience as a receptionist operating a busy multi-line phone.
Ability to work independently and be a strong team member.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and customer service skills; high level of adaptability and an ability to pay attention to detail.
Experience dealing with angry or hostile customers and visitors; ability to deal with the public with patience and courtesy.
Basic knowledge of arithmetic, including experience handling checks and issuing receipts.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook; records management experience.
