Business Operations is responsible for supporting the Health Department mission and goals by providing high quality financial, contracting, budgeting, and medical billing services to our diverse customers.
This position acts as a lead, providing support to the Accounts Receivable (AR) team, Clinical Systems Information (CSI) staff, Integrated Clinical Services (ICS) Operations Management, and clinics. Uses both Webinars and on-site training methods for Epic Systems, as it relates to AR billing processes. Creates innovative sustainable work-flows for billing and clinic staff, for the purpose of increasing revenue and easing manual workloads. Responsible for creating, analyzing, and verifying accuracy of reports for external vendors, for purpose of payment. Provides support to the CSI team in maintaining billing needs in EPIC Resolute through enhancements and upgrades to the EPIC program. Using troubleshooting and problem solving skills, combined with information provided in existing EPIC reports, work queues, and any other data available, will ensure that the EPIC system is functioning at optimal effectiveness. This is accomplished by reviewing, communicating and working with CSI and OCHIN (external partner) to fix glitches in the customized billing system. Share knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and Fee for Service medical billing and how it is best applied in the EPIC billing system with clinic staff and others. Another function is to ensure assignment of provider identifiers with outside payors in an efficient manner, thus enabling the streamlined billing, payment and reconciliation of patient accounts. Acts as a resource person for anyone with billing questions. Participates in a variety of duties involving posting, adjusting, balancing and summarizing of fiscal records, resulting from provision of clinical services and is a representative of Medical Billing on a variety of task force teams, surrounding change management in MCHD.
