Career Development Coach
Youth Progress is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and culturally-responsive Career Development Coach to join our team. The person in this position will ensure proper follow-through of each client's individual treatment program and advance clients' career development by providing effective career counseling, coaching and advising. The College and Career Attainment Program is a proctor day treatment program designed to help young adults in the Juvenile Justice and Foster Care systems transition successfully into adulthood. The Career Development Coach will work with other College and Career Attainment Program and organization staff, DHS Case Workers, Probation/Parole Officers, and community-based programs as well as in the general community. This position will work primarily with out-of-school DHS youth and will report to the College & Career Attainment Program Supervisor.
I) Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Career Exploration and Advising:
Increase client participation in career counseling, coaching, and advising through a variety of formats including drop-in interactions, individual appointments, and presentations/workshops.
Help clients understand the relationship between self-knowledge and career choice through formal and informal career assessments.
Provide clients with relevant occupational, educational, and employment information that helps them to explore a wide range of career options.
Increase awareness and promotion of experiential education opportunities to clients through project based learning activities and internship opportunities.
Empower clients to make reasoned career choices and to develop realistic implementation plans.
Improve student preparedness for job search activities and professionalism in the workplace.
Assisting clients in the orientation process by introducing them to all aspects of the program, helping them schedule appointments, obtain necessary documentation, and coaching them through their Orientation checklists in a timely manner.
Assisting in the development of a treatment review meeting at a minimum of every 45 days for all assigned clients based on information gathered from daily logs, other YPA staff, and outside resources. These reviews will detail the client's progress toward the completion of their Master Service Plan. The Career Development Coach will also facilitate transition planning with client's team, in order to establish the appropriate aftercare plan.
Career Development Coach will document and monitor the specified recovery program for each assigned client. This will include, but is not limited to, attendance at outside meetings and engagement in recovery services, such as counseling.
Career Development Coach is responsible for ensuring that client files are up to date and in proper order, including but not limited to BRS hours, disciplinary issues, counseling progress, job information, home visits, medication schedules, pass plans, tracking sheets, etc.
Career Development Coach will complete daily logs for each client in program, for a weekly minimum of 12 hours. Daily logs will consist of significant interactions with staff, peers, employers, and school personnel as well as special appointments and family/PO meetings, etc.
Career Development Coach work with the treatment team to develop an aftercare support plan for clients who graduate from the program. If a client successfully transitions, Case Managers also contact the youth consistently for a period of 90 days to support the client's transition into the community. Case Managers document those contacts and the final status of the client.
Coordination & Communication:
Create strong relationships with the community, our foster parents, and our program staff.
Learn the culture of each home to ensure that the needs of each new client matches the skills of the foster parents.
Career Development Coach will develop resources for client special needs, such as school, alcohol and drug issues, recreation, and cultural interests.
Documentation & Evaluation:
Complete required documentation & communication in an efficient manner.
Manage many concurrent tasks at different stages of completion in a manner that ensures their timely completion.
Communicate clearly and professionally. Complete monthly status reports.
Career Development Coach will perform other duties as assigned by the Management Staff.
II) Position Requirements
2+ years progressive case management and job coaching experience in a social service environment required.
Master of Social Work or related field preferred
Experience providing services to youth involved in the juvenile justice and foster care systems required.
Experience in planning, managing and evaluating the delivery of services and design of programs within a social service organization.

Position & Environment Details:
Full Time: Yes
Hours: Typically 9-5, M-F. Some evenings and weekend as needed.
Co-workers: The person in this position will report into our College and Career Attainment Program Supervisor and also work closely with the College and Career Attainment Program Job Trainer to ensure clients get the supports and resources needed to succeed. As an agency, we're creative, open-minded, and bustling. We're often busy, but never too busy to help brainstorm a complicated problem or share a word of support.
Day to day: No two days are exactly alike and there is a great opportunity to build upon our current systems and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the role. Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or social sciences
2 years prior experience working with Proctor or Foster Parents
Current driver's license
Master's degree in psychology, social work, or social sciences
5+ years experience in working with youth involved in the juvenile justice or foster care system
Strong network and community connections
Experience in direct services, case management, counseling, family support etc.
