General Position Summary:
The candidate for this role will be responsible for developing product strategy, flow and assortments by store to maximize sales and profitability. This role is heavily weighted on buying and allocation and will be responsible for buying in our youth apparel, collegiate product, and men’s graphic tee categories. This position also includes inventory management along with promotional/price management.
•Partner with Merchandise Planner to develop seasonal financial plans at various levels of detail.
•Manage a line planning process that includes style selection and product flow ensuring synergy with financial plans.
•Partner with cross functional team members to support marketing strategies that will lead to exceeding sales and margin goals.
•Recap business weekly, monthly and seasonally and react to business needs as they arise in a timely manner.
•Manage OTB sales, mark downs, turns and inventory position. Responsible for managing inventory levels.
•Accountable for merchandise category performance, recommends revisions to the merchandise plan/forecast based on sound analysis and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
•Analyze product performance on a department, classification, vendor and style level and react appropriately to sales trends.
•Responsible for initiating markdowns to ensure sell through is meeting turnover goals.
•Actively participates in concept meetings and line reviews.
•Communicate merchandising strategies with cross functional teams including Planning, Inventory analysts, Customer Service, Product Creation and Marketing.
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Merchandising or related field.
•2+ years’ experience in retail buying, merchandise planning, merchandising or allocation.
•Previous experience working in a retail organization as an assistant/associate buyer/merchant or equivalent position.
•Adept in Excel and in manipulating data with advanced formulas, functions, and pivot tables.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization.
•Awareness of Outdoor market trends.
•Understandingof retail math including intricacies of open to buy, inventory turnoverand gross margin.
•Strong analyticaland problem-solving skills.
•Establishedmethod of personal organization.
