Development Assistant


Part-Time (16 hours/week); Non-exempt

Reports to: Development Operations Manager


The Development Assistant is a key support position for the Catholic Charities' Development Department. This position provides administrative support to the Development team and plays an integral role in Catholic Charities stewardship of donors and potential supporters.


Serve as assistant to the Development team, primarily assisting with administrative duties including meeting preparation and logistics.
Open and process mail.
With careful attention to detail, process donations and manage constituent data in Salesforce.
Produce and mail donor acknowledgement letters and giving pledges in a timely manner.
Effectively respond to donor inquiries.
Conduct donor research.
Assist Development team staff with printing and compiling materials for donor meetings and events.
Assist Development team staff with meeting planning, invitations and rsvp's, event logistics (room set up and clean up and food orders.)
Assist the Chief Development Officer and Development team with the implementation of departmental projects.
Accept deliveries as required.
Accept and manage automobile donations.
Cover receptionist's breaks a few times per month.
In coordination with the Development Events Manager, provide Celebration of Hope and Donor Recognition event support including, but not limited to:
Coordinating assigned event activities, including registration, seating, venue contracts, entertainment, and event logistics.
Maintain event records in Salesforce.
Process and acknowledge gift receipts.
Participate in trainings and coordination meetings as requested by Supervisor.
Adherence to Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of two years' experience in nonprofit development and fundraising preferred.
Data entry and database management experience required. Experience with Salesforce preferred.

Strong proficiency in all programs of Microsoft Office.
Excellent attention to detail required.
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
Commitment to Catholic Charities mission to work in partnership with vulnerable populations to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which could include some evenings and weekends.
Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Travel required. Must have driver's license, access to vehicle and ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency (100/300/100).
Satisfactory results from criminal, civil and/or motor vehicle background check required.
