Position Summary
The Assistant Athletics Director for Development is a member of the PSU Foundation development team and works closely with the Athletics Director and Athletics Department leadership to execute fundraising strategies for the Athletic Department. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and securing new and ongoing major gifts, planned gifts, and corporate/foundation gifts. The Assistant Athletics Director of Development will carry a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects, using moves management and guided by metrics, will maximize major and principal gifts to Portland State.

Required Duties

-Develop annual and comprehensive campaign fundraising plans for the Athletics Department that aligns with the Foundation Strategic Direction (2017-2021) and fundraising priorities identified by the Director of Athletics.
-Develop effective professional relationships with Director of Athletics, staff and coaches in the Athletics Department and other offices as necessary on campus to collaborate on fundraising strategies.
-Responsible for managing a portfolio of 75-100 prospects and donors and designing successful cultivation and solicitation strategies to secure gifts, with a primary focus on gifts of $50,000 and above.
-Develop strategies to effectively utilize the time and resources of the Director of Athletics, university leadership and volunteers on cultivation and solicitation activities.
-In coordination with the Athletics Department and in partnership with the Foundation’s Engagement and Communications team, plan and execute signature special events (i.e. seasonal athletic events, Wine and Roses, Hall of Fame).
-Work collaboratively with the PSU Foundation teams, including Annual Giving, Gift Planning, Engagement and Communications, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Alumni Association, and Finance and Accounting.
-Adhere to and implement Research and Prospect Management’s policies, including metrics, research and record management in the alumni and constituent engagement database (ACE).
-Participate in Athletic and Development team meetings, planning sessions and special projects as needed.
-Monitor and ensure that position-related duties and projects are in full compliance with policies, regulations and rules of the University and all applicable organizations including the National Collegiate Athletic Association and Big Sky Conference.
-Other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience
-Bachelor’s degree.
-A minimum of five years of relevant fundraising experience including proven success in securing six-and seven-figure gifts.
-Knowledge of college athletics.
-Excellent analytical, computer and written and verbal communication skills.
-Demonstrated experience in writing proposals and stewardship reports for donors.
-Able to travel and work evenings and weekends.
-Demonstrated computer proficiency is a must including experience using MS office applications, Google mail, Google Docs and fundraising software.
-Reliable, regular, and predictable attendance.
-Successful completion of a background check.
